Mixed Reactions For Marvel's 'Ant-Man' After First Press Screening Plus New Promos And Pics

Marvel has a couple of hurdles to overcome with “Ant-Man.” There’s the ever present shadow of Edgar Wright and what-could-have-been looming over the movie, and there’s convincing mainstream audiences that the character and movie is just as exciting as anything “The Avengers” have served up. And there’s making a movie that’s on-par or better than the source material, which the film’s co-star Evangeline Lilly says she wasn’t impressed with.

“I am still trying to figure out how to get my hands on original ‘Ant-Man’ comics. I’ve been given a couple recent ‘Ant-Man’ comics. No offense Marvel, but they are total crap,” she told Collider. “I really want to read the original ones, because I got through two and I was like, dude, you can’t force-feed me another one of these magazines. It was terrible. But Janet’s not in them, and neither is Hank and neither is Scott. It’s just a completely different fabrication.”

Essentially, “Ant-Man” has a big job to do, not only by entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but by re-energizing excitement for the character that’s perhaps not there on the page. And last night, select press got to see the movie early, and the reaction? Well, it’s either awesome, just good, or not good at all. But it seems everyone agrees the two mid-credits scenes are worth sticking around for.

“Ant-Man” arrives on July 17th. Check out the twitter reactions below (via ComicBookMovie), some new promo material and images.
