Written, directed by and starring Gervais, the new comedy film will finally allow Brent to spread his wings and be the rock star he was always meant to be. Most “Office” fans will remember that the character has always had a certain penchant for music, giving his television fans a taste of his lyrical abilities with hits like “Free Love Freeway.” The film will pick up with Brent as a traveling salesman and track his band, “Forgone Conclusion,” on their self-financed UK tour.

“Ricky Gervais is a comic genius and we can’t wait to see where he takes this beloved character,” stated Tom Ortenberg, CEO at Open Road Films.
“David Brent getting a big U.S. theatrical release? He can die happy now. (Spoiler alert – he does not die in this movie),” added Gervais.

“Life on the Road” will open in the United Kingdom on August 19, 2016, with Open Road planning for a wide U.S. theatrical release shortly thereafter.
