It’s now been three years since Christopher Nolan‘s “The Dark Knight Rises” arrived in cinemas, and capped off his three film run with Batman. It’s still a rather high mark in the comic book movie genre, mixing style, complex characters, and thematic depth in a way few have matched since. While other movies have attempted to copy the tone — reducing it down to a single word: “gritty” — Nolan’s trilogy built up toward a grand feat of storytelling, mythology and symbolism.
This new 10-minute video tribute to the series by Thomas Davidson spends time with each film, individually tracking Gotham’s fate, Bruce Wayne’s increasing burden of being the hero, and the gallery of villains who get in the way across all the movies. And it’s a nice revisit to the trilogy that shows the expanding scope of each successive film, highlighted by Hans Zimmer‘s distinctive score created for each picture. While a new Batman is coming soon to cinemas, Nolan’s take is certainly one that won’t be forgotten. Check it out below. [via Reddit]
