After the hype and anticipation, “True Detective” season two kicked off last night, and while early reaction might’ve been mixed from critics, everyone is still watching. You can check out Rodrigo Perez’s take on the first episode “The Western Book Of The Dead” right here, and my own feeling is that the new season is compelling, but facing some bumps in the road due to the expanded cast of lead characters. It’s a lot of story to juggle and it doesn’t always run smoothly. But it features terrific performances all around, and by the end of the first hour, I was hooked.
And so, as you gather ’round the watercooler this morning to talk with everyone around the office about the show, here’s a few videos to get the conversation started. First is the show’s opening credits (you can check out all the music cues from “The Western Book Of The Dead” right here), a handful of clips from the show (Colin Farrell‘s Ray Velcoro is turning out to be a fan favorite already), plus a preview of next week’s “Night Finds You.”
Tell us what you thought about the debut episode in the comments section and if you’ll be tuning in next week.
