Black Dog Films has announced that Rose McGowan’s directorial debut, “Dawn,” will be released on YouTube later this June. The online debut follows the films’ limited theatrical run and acclaimed premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

The 17-minute short tells the story of the pent-up frustrations of a Kennedy-era teenager named Dawn (Tara Barr). The dark film also explores sexuality and a desire for the unknown after Dawn invites those outside of her sheltered life into her circle.

“It just feels like it’s what I’m meant to be doing. Which is an amazing thing to find out,” McGowan told Indiewire of finding her passion in directing rather than acting. McGowan currently has a feature-length film project in the works.

“Dawn” will debut on YouTube later this month.
