If there is one character in the fairy tale canon that has demanded to be explored, where audiences have craved a compelling and complex backstory, it’s that of Prince Charming. Actually, wait, nobody has asked for that at all. Ever. But Disney has an interesting twist, with a new project padding out their now ludicrously large live action slate.
THR reports that the mouse house is moving ahead with Prince Charming movie penned by Matt Fogel (“Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son“), with The Guardian adding that this revisionist story actually isn’t about the Prince, but his brother, and that it will be a comedy. Okay, I have to admit, I didn’t see that coming.
“Prince Charming’s Brother” (or wahtever it will be called) joins “The Jungle Book,” “Winnie The Pooh,” “Mulan,” “Beauty & The Best,” “Dumbo,” “Pinocchio,” “Tink,” and “Night On Bald Mountain” in Disney’s bursting drawer of movies that are taking beloved characters and giving them a makeover.
