“Gabo: The Creation of Gabriel García Márquez,” a portrait of the Nobel Prize-winning author who died last year at 87, has been scooped up by indie distributor Icarus Films for North American release.

Directed by Barcelona-based filmmaker Justin Webster and shot in Colombia (the writer’s native country), Cuba, France, Mexico, Spain and the Us, “Gabo” asks the question, “How did a boy from a tiny town on the Caribbean coast become a writer who won the hearts of millions? How did he change our perception of reality with his work?”
