This is how it goes at the studios these days: you plan for success and worry about what to do when things go wrong afterwards. Sony got burned by this methodology with their “The Amazing Spider-Man” series, forcing them to reboot everything, and get a helping hand from Marvel to start over. But it appears Fox is confident enough about their upcoming “Fantastic Four” that Bryan Singer is already teasing the long-rumored crossover movie with his rejiggered X-Men franchise, though he does make a caveat.
“To just say you’re going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films [‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ and “Fantastic Four”] evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that,” he told Yahoo Movies. However, it appears conversations are happening, and he says there’s a “natural mechanism” they use to make it work.
“Those ideas are in play,” he said, and teased, “It deals with time. That’s all I’m going to say.”
So are the “Fantastic Four” folks also going to leap back in time? Maybe everyone will meet up in the ’90s and listen to grunge. Share your thoughts and theories below, and check out the full Yahoo Q&A with Singer. Lots of interesting little bits and pieces in there that fans will enjoy.
