We can’t always have our wedding cake and eat it to. Sometimes progress leads to the Katherine Heiglfication of our stories, and that’s what "Jenny’s Wedding" appears to be doing. We’ve only seen the below trailer, and who knows — it could be great. But it all smells a little "Lifetime Presents Pretty White Lesbians Coming Out To Their Families." And hey, maybe that’s your thing even if it is the case.
Written and directed by Mary Agnes Donoghue (who wrote "Beaches," "White Oleander," and "Veronica Guerin" — which does give us some hope here), and starring Heigl, Alexis Bledel (more hope), Tom Wilkinson (more hope still), Linda Emond, and Grace Gummer, IFC Films is releasing "Wedding" at the end of the month. Watch the trailer below and tell us if we’re just being a bunch of cynical old queens.
