Peccadillo Pictures has acquired the international rights to Leon Lopez’s feature film debut, “Soft Lad.” Beyond being in the process of selling the film around the world, Peccadillo Pictures will also be handing the distribution of the film in the UK and Ireland.
“An important tale boasting a host of familiar faces, ‘Soft Lad’ is a taught, intelligent story of lust and jealousy in contemporary Liverpool,” Peccadillo explained. “‘Soft Lad features a host of UK television royalty; a love affair between the soap operas if you will.”
Director and writer Lopez came to the UK’s attention for his portrayal of Jerome Johnson in Channel 4’s “Brookside.” The two male leads of “Soft Lad.” are Jonny Labey, who currently stars in BBC One’s “Eastenders” and Daniel Brocklebank from ITV’s “Coronation Street.”
The film recently received its World Premiere at London’s East End Film Festival and is part of Peccadillo Pictures POUT Fest Tour, which starts August 2015.
“‘Soft Lad’ is the greatest achievement of my life so far. The culmination of hard work with a dedicated and super talented cast of friends,” said Lopez. “It’s a story that has needed to be told for a long time and I’m glad we were finally able to do it. To gain the support of Peccadillo Pictures for distribution has been a dream come true.”
