Steve McQueen and Kanye West Team for One-Take LACMA Installation

"Steve McQueen with Kanye West: All Day / I Feel Like That" will be a four-day pop-up installation at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, to be unveiled this Saturday.

Running nine minutes and shot in one take at a dockyard near London, the installation doesn’t yet have an official synopsis, but a version was shown at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in France this year (where Claire Denis also showed a short film).

According to the LA Times, "In an unofficial clip uploaded to YouTube, West can be seen bobbing and weaving in front of the camera as music plays on the soundtrack. At one point, he collapses against a wall in an apparent state of exhaustion. The title of the installation is believed to be a reference to West’s single ‘All Day,’ which was released this year."

An artist turned filmmaker, McQueen put aside his art practice background to dive into filmmaking, directing features "Hunger," "Shame" and "12 Years a Slave" that are as visceral as his decades-long video installation work, which won him the Turner Prize in 1999.

He’s also working on a limited series event for HBO, "Codes of Conduct," starring newcomer Devon Terrell.
