“Jurassic World” and “Furious 7” may have smashed the box office, “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” once again showed Marvel has no signs of slowing down, but if you ask most people what their favorite movie of the summer has been so far, the answer is “Mad Max: Fury Road.” And it was the San Diego Comic Con trailer in 2014 that first gave folks an idea of the madness George Miller was creating, so what better tribute than Conan O’Brien taking on the movie one year later.
The talk show host is broadcasting live from SDCC (he’ll also be moderating “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2” panel later today) and he gets things kicked off with a particularly fun tribute to the movie as he and Andy Richter drive from Burbank to San Diego. Conan has a great fun as the Doof Warrior, complete with flame throwing guitar, while Andy drives him around as Immortan Joe.
It’s amusing stuff, but if you need a reminder of how difficult it is to nail all the details of Miller’s film, Adrian Conlon‘s supercut of the movie is a bracing reminder. Scored to Soundgarden‘s “Rusty Cage,” the video is a full throttle, four-and-a-half minute rip through ‘Fury Road,’ in all it’s visually violent, blood spattering, eye-popping glory. Check out both vids below.
