Netflix’s upcoming series, a prequel to the cult classic “Wet Hot American Summer,” has a new featurette with cast members — both from the original film and new — chronicling the shooting of the show.
“Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” takes place, as you may have guessed, on the first day of Camp Firewood as a prequel to the 2001 movie, which took place on the last day. The premise is all the more comically ridiculous, given that the cast members are playing teenagers when most of them are now old enough to be parents of teenagers.
The show gathered together a dizzying number of recognizable and much-adored faces — many of whom were in the original film — along with a handful of newcomers, from Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd to Jason Schwartzman and Lake Bell. The featurette above has them reflecting on everything from the youthful nostalgia of shooting in the same way they did on the original film, to sleeping in the cabins that appear in the series, to the excitement of such a huge reunion.
The Netflix series premieres on July 31.
