So far, everything about the Netflix prequel to “Wet Hot American Summer” has been spot-on. From its full title, “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp,” to the jaw-dropping collection of comedy greats in its cast, to its first teaser, trailer and now real, non-VHS-like first footage and spot-on poster.
Nearly half the nearly three-minute trailer is taken up by rattling off cast members, from returning favorites like Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks, to newcomers like “Mad Men’s” John Slattery and Jon Hamm.
Perhaps even more impressive than the trailer — which, frankly, was a guaranteed win given this cast — is the key art (aka, poster) released by Netflix. Kickin’ it old school, the homage to classic characters — lead by cool kid Paul Rudd — is destined to be plastered on dorm rooms and TV dens alike.
Check out the poster below and trailer above. “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” premieres July 31, only on Netflix.
