Although the new year is still a ways off, distributor A24 is already lining up a very impressive 2016 slate. Not only do they have Sundance winner “The Witch” ready to go (watch the debut trailer here), but the company has also just picked up U.S. distrubution rights to Jeremy Saulnier’s “Green Room,” which premiered at Cannes and will make its North American debut in the Midnight Madness section at TIFF this September.

The extremely violent horror thriller hails from “Blue Ruin” director Jeremy Saulnier and stars Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Alia Shawkat. Broad Green Pictures produced the film and originally had plans to distribute it themselves, though they changed gears and decided to sell the project during its premiere stop at Cannes.

“Green Room” follows members of a punk band after they see something they shouldn’t while at a gig in an Oregonian backwoods club. The club’s owner (Stewart) decide this will be the band’s final appearance, leading to a life-or-death battle.

A24 plans to release the film theatrically in spring 2016.
