Dolly Parton was at the Television Critics Association summer press tour this week to promote her NBC movie “Coat of Many Colors,” and inevitable questions about whether she’d eventually join her “9 to 5” co-stars Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda on Netflix series “Grace & Frankie” were met initially met with alleged confusion.
“Who’s Grace and Frankie?” Parton asked to laughs. “Oh, you should of said ‘Jane and Lily.'”
Even though Parton admitted she hadn’t seen the series yet, she said that she told Tomlin and Fonda that “whenever I get a little block of time, I’d love to come be on the show. We always talked about a [“9 to 5″] reunion.”
Parton did say she was aware of the show’s premise, in that Fonda and Tomlin play two women whose husbands leave them for one another.
“I don’t know what my husband [on the show] is going to turn out to be,” added Parton, “but we’ll figure it out.”
