Everyone has a favorite actor; someone they trust to make challenging, engaging or entertaining work again and again, no matter what. But perhaps even more important to a TV fan’s long-term health is his or her TV crush. Now, we’re not talking about some hottie you saw on a random show and fell in love with for a few weeks. This is an actor or actress you dedicate years of your life to tracking because of some inexplicable allure or connection you just can’t shake. It’s a difficult idea to pin down, seeing as it doesn’t necessarily originate from one’s youth. Your crush isn’t someone you need be ashamed of — sometimes he or she can be one of the very best.
That’s certainly the case for at least one of the TV Team’s picks (pictured above). This week, Indiewire TV Editor Liz Shannon Miller and TV Critic Ben Travers discuss the mysterious allure of subjective favorites, why your instincts matter, how a TV crush can shape your view of the medium overall and, of course, who they both can’t stop watching. (Hint: “The X-Files” will come up.)
