Based on the Season 2 trailer WGN America just released, “Manhattan” will be picking up off right where the unforgettable first season ended. The trailer hints at the questionable motivations, duplicitous nature and high stakes secrets held by the series’ main characters inside the world’s most guarded city — plus, there are clues as to the fate of Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey) and the first footage of William Peterson as Col. Emmett Darrow, the new ranking military officer who intends to spread American values across the globe.

Created by Sam Shaw and directed by Thomas Schlamme, “Manhattan” takes us inside Los Alamos, where during World War II, scientists and their families were locked away from the world to design the world’s first weapon of mass destruction. The Cold War brews on the atomic horizon as foreign spies and paranoia threaten to jeopardize the project and emotions run wild.

The highly anticipated return of the Emmy-nominated drama is set for Tuesday, October 13 at 9pm on WGN America. Watch the trailer above.
