Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier has delivered two emotional tour-de-forces with “Reprise” and “Oslo, August 31st,” and the international teaser for his next project, “Louder Tham Bombs,” seems to promise yet another weighty drama about relationships and the human condition. The film earned considerable acclaim at its Cannes Film Festival premiere in May and stars Jesse Eisenberg, Isabelle Huppert, Gabriel Byrne and Amy Ryan.
The official synopsis reads: “An upcoming exhibition celebrating photographer Isabelle Reed three years after her untimely death brings her eldest son Jonah back to the family house – forcing him to spend more time with his father Gene and withdrawn younger brother Conrad than he has in years. With the three of them under the same roof, Gene tries desperately to connect with his two sons, but they struggle to reconcile their feelings about the woman they remember so differently.”
The film has been picked up for U.S. distribution by The Orchard, though no release date has been set yet.
