Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, here’s the 4th part of its annual Emmy season roundtable chats that we all love so much, released leading up to the September 20 Primetime Emmys this fall.
Today’s hour-long conversation features the writers, including Lee Daniels (Fox’s “Empire”); Damon Lindelof (HBO’s “The Leftovers”); Alex Gansa (Showtime’s “Homeland”); Michelle King (CBS’ “The Good Wife”); Sarah Treem (Showtime’s “The Affair”); and Beau Willimon (Netflix’s “House of Cards”).
In the “raw, uncensored” conversation, the writers speak candidly about everything (almost) you’d want to know about the business, from a hit-show writer’s POV.
For example, a snip of Daniels’ contribution: “There was a character that I wrote into the original pilot who was Hakeem’s love interest, a mother figure, [played by] Macy Gray… There was a love scene, and [network executives] said, ‘This is too much.'”
Without further ado, here’s the hour-long “THR Drama Writers Roundtable.”
