Zac Efron is officially set to put on those little red shorts (and probably not much else) in the big screen adaptation of the TV series “Baywatch,” joining the already cast The Rock.
Which as much as we’re all for watching Efron nearly naked for 90 minutes, it did initially seem like a questionable career move for the actor, who has been making largely smart choices as of late. However, we’re happy to inform that the “Baywatch” movie will be in the vein of “21 Jump Street” and its sequel — a comedic, R-rated, wink-wink kinda thing that is hopefully as refreshingly non-homophobic as the “Jump Street” films. Here’s the synopsis as per The Guardian:
The film will take the form of a buddy comedy in which Johnson’s straight-laced lifeguard (Johnson) is forced to unite with a youthful rule-breaking newcomer (Efron) when the beach they both love faces destruction courtesy of the avaricious attentions of a nefarious oil tycoon.
Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses,” “Identity Thief”) has signed on to direct.
