2015 Emmy Predictions: Best Limited Series

2015 Emmy Predictions: Best Limited Series

Without “Fargo” or “True Detective” in the running, “Olive Kitteridge” is finally ready to sweep up some trophies. After playing second (or third) fiddle at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, Frances McDormand and Lisa Cholodenko’s HBO miniseries is looking to take the frontrunner position at the Emmys and never let it go.

A few familiar faces — and a few new ones — stand in their way. “The Honorable Woman” will try to take advantage of its Globes’ win to springboard ahead of “Olive,” while “American Horror Story” has long been a favorite of the TV Academy. Both squared off with “Olive” at the Globes, and Maggie Gyllenhaal even managed to upset McDormand for Best Actress.

Meanwhile, “American Crime” will try to ride a wave of cultural clout all the way to a win. In its first major awards appearance, the ABC event series fared very well on nominations’ day, earning the broadcast network an impressive 10 nods. It may have what it takes to go the distance, while other newcomer “Wolf Hall” is probably happy to be among the nominees.

Below are predictions for Outstanding Limited Series from both Indiewire Awards Editor Peter Knegt and TV Critic Ben Travers. Check back as they might very well change ’em up between now and September, and stay up-to-date on all the races with our predictions in all the categories here.
