The IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards has announced that two “breakthrough series” awards will be added to their slate of honors. The awards will be given to “outstanding achievements in serialized content in television and new media.”
The award will honor “exceptionally realized new series that expand the possibilities of creative, independent storytelling in serialized content” and will be available for both long and short form works. This category is only open to series that have premiered within the last year (September 1, 2014 – August 31, 2015) and exists as part of a push to honor independent storytelling in a variety of modes.
Nominations for the categories, along with all competitive category awards, will be announced on October 22. The awards will be presented November 30 in NYC.
