Check It Out: The First Feature Film Shot Entirely with Drones

Now that drone cameras are legal to use in various parts of the world, filmmakers are availing themselves of cinematic opportunities. We’ve seen shorts shot with drones and now comes what’s reportedly the first feature production shot completely with drones. Directed by Luis Aviles and produced by Alberto Pablo Rivera, “Final Minute” is a crime thriller set to start shooting during Carnaval of 2016 in Ecuador.

The filmmakers have turned to Kickstarter to raise $40,000 towards the $140,000 production budget.

In a press release, Aviles said that he wrote the script thinking about the kind of story that works best for the project and saw
the police thriller as the ideal genre to explore all the visual possibilities offered by drones. “I have always looked for ways to shoot with a camera that has the complete freedom of movement in a scene, with drones that vision is very close to be
achieved,” the director said in a statement.

The filmmakers will shoot with a DJI Inspire 1. Check out the sample video below. Is this the future of filmmaking? Will you contribute to this project? Tell us in the comments below.
