Oscilloscope Now Has Two Foreign Oscar Entries

The first feature shot in the Colombian Amazon in 30 years, black-and-white "Embrace of the Serpent" won the top award at Directors’ Fortnight in the Cannes Film Festival. Oscilloscope will release the film theatrically on February 17th.
The movie tracks Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people, who aids two scientist explorers of different generations as they explore the jungle seeking the sacred and rare psychedelic Yakruna plant. The film was inspired by the journals of two real-life explorers who traveled through the Colombian Amazon during the last century.

The film was produced by Cristina Gallego.
