The Telluride Film Festival takes place this weekend in Colorado, kicking off the fall movie season and the frenzied awards campaigns that always accompanies it. With the lineup revealed just a day before the festival begins, Telluride seemingly comes out of nowhere to leave its mark. The program is always filled with both unknown variables and highly anticipated titles that wind up having a dramatic impact on the year in cinema.
But every year is different, and as usual, nothing is certain. In this week’s episode of Screen Talk, Eric Kohn and Anne Thompson meet up in Telluride just before the madness begins to talk through the cluttered program and single out the films they’re most excited to check out. Stay tuned over the next 72 hours as their coverage continues. (Special thanks to Indiewire contributor Gary Kramer for hosting this week’s recording at his Telluride condo.)
