“We are very excited to be launching this new label with such an exciting and provocative project. The goal is to produce genre films from filmmakers who have a unique voice and a captivating vision. We hope it’s the start of many more to come,” said Ridley and Giannina Scott, in a joint statement.
“The Twisted” is set in an isolated orphanage in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The haunting film is penned by Ari Schlossberg (“Hide and Seek”) and directed by Nigerian native Olatunde Osunanmi (“Fourth Kind”). “The Twisted” marks the first project from Verve Ventures, the new packaging, finance and sales division of talent agency Verve.
Ridley Scott is in Toronto to debut his latest directorial effort, the anticipated Matt Damon vehicle “The Martian,” which is having its world premiere tomorrow night. Scott Free also produced TIFF player “Equals,” starring Kristin Stewart and Nicholas Hoult.
