Just a few hours after Sam Smith hinted about it, the news has become official: The openly gay singer has recorded the theme to the new James Bond film “Spectre,” following in the Oscar winning footsteps of Adele.
Titled “Writings On The Wall,” the song was written by Smith and Jimmy Napes (who co-wrote his big hit “Stay With Me”), and Disclosure has said they provided “additional production.”
“This is one of the highlights of my career,” Smith said. “I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible lineup of some of my biggest musical inspirations,” Smith tweeted Tuesday morning. “I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”
The song is set to debut on September 25th. We can’t wait.
