TV One Renews ‘Born Again Virgin’ for a Second Season

TV One Renews 'Born Again Virgin' for a Second Season

It debuted last month to a total of 1.4 Million “unique Viewers,” per the TV One press release, which ranked #4 among key Black demos in its time period. Additionally, TV One ranked among Ad-supported Cable’s Top 5 networks during the 10PM hour among Blacks that evening.

So, essentially, it’s been a hit for the network, and it, therefore, shouldn’t be much of a surprise that it’s been renewed for a second season, as has been announced today.

“Given its provocative premise and smart storytelling, our confidence in Born Again Virgin as a dynamic addition to our Wednesday primetime lineup was solid even before the first episode aired,” said D’ Angela Proctor, TV One’s SVP Original Programming and Production. “The continual character development, strong writing and topical humor combined with key demo weekly ratings gains and strong social engagement confirm the show’s ability to deliver new and younger audiences.”

“Born Again Virgin” follows the dating lives of three 30-something best friends – Jenna (played by Danielle Nicolet), a writer who decides to become celibate after a stream of unsuccessful dates and hook-ups leave her wanting more meaningful relationships; and her girlfriends, Kelly (Meagan Holder), a successful publicist with a trail of bad relationships, and Tara (Eva Marcille), a budding actress who lives a celebrity-inspired lifestyle.

Joining them is Donovan (Durrell “Tank” Babbs), their “hot neighbor” who tempts Jenna’s celibacy vow. Each week, the ladies will work through their dating woes, career challenges, and friendship.

The series was created by Ranada Shepard, and is produced by Swirl Films.
