With budget disagreements scuttling at least two of the shows David Fincher had set up at HBO, there’s little to look forward to in the near future for fans of the famously demanding director. So let’s turn our eyes backwards to Fincher’s beloved sophomore feature “Se7en” and break down the infamous climax.
Next Tuesday marks the thriller’s twentieth anniversary, and the folks over at CineFix have dedicated a recent episode of their “Art of the Scene” series to the film’s shocking ending. For those unfamiliar with the behind-the-scenes struggles over “Se7en,” this nearly 15-minute-long video does a great job of explaining the hullaballoo between Fincher and New Line Cinema over the ending as well as the aesthetic choices Fincher made for the film.
