Labyrinth of Lies,” Germany’s submission for the 88th Academy Awards, tackles a national subject by dealing with the remnants of Nazism after World War II.

The film stars Alexander Fehling as Johan Radmann, an ambitious young lawyer who learns that a former Nazi extermination camp commander is teaching school in Berlin having escaped any sort of punishment for his crimes. He sets out to bring every Nazi war criminal to justice but meets resistance as he learns the party still has a firm hold on German politics and that they will protect their own to avoid paying for their crimes.

Radmann’s campaign didn’t win him much popularity as shown in this exclusive clip. In the clip, what starts as playful teasing becomes a verbal attack from an older party member against Radmann and his methods, denouncing what he calls a “show trial.” Nonetheless, the young lawyer stands his ground for justice against the conspiracy of lies and silence.
