Watch: 'The Affair' Season 2 Premiere Gets Free, Early Release from Showtime

Perhaps trying to get a jump on a crowded weekend of television, Showtime has released the first episode of “The Affair” Season 2 online for free. To make sure it can reach the most eyeballs possible, the version above (and everywhere else) has been slightly edited to fit a TV-14 rating.

“The Affair” Season 2 was set to make its debut Sunday, October 4 at 10pm — following the premiere of “Homeland” Season 5 — but that night is a bit overbooked. “The Leftovers” Season 2 makes its debut on HBO, “Fear the Walking Dead” airs on AMC, and Sunday Night Football — a dominant ratings force — will still be underway at 10pm. Though HBO and AMC’s offerings will have ended by the time “The Affair” starts, relying on viewers to flip over isn’t as safe as letting them watch your show whenever they want, and Showtime wants to make the most out of its award-winning drama.

The Season 2 premiere has been made available via YouTube, SHO.com, the Showtime Preview app available on select Smart TVs, iTunes as a video podcast download, Roku, Playstation Vue, Hulu and various On Demand providers. Showtime subscribers can watch the episode via Showtime Anytime, as well as on the aforementioned services.

“The Affair” Season 2, Episode 1, “11,” will still air Sunday, October 4 at 10pm on Showtime.
