A couple of weeks after announcing they would be re-teaming with filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier for an adaptation of the William Giraldi novel “Hold the Dark” A24 has released the official theatrical dates for their first collaboration with the “Blue Ruin” writer-director. “Green Room,” starring Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Alia Shawkat, will open in limited release starting April 1, before expanding nationwide on April 15

The official synopsis for the revenge thriller reads: “Down on their luck punk rockers The Ain’t Rights are finishing up a long and unsuccessful tour, and are about to call it quits when they get an unexpected booking at an isolated, run-down club deep in the backwoods of Oregon. What seems merely to be a third-rate gig escalates into something much more sinister when they witness an act of violence backstage that they weren’t meant to see. Now trapped backstage, they must face off against the club’s depraved owner, Darcy Banker (Stewart), a man who will do anything to protect the secrets of his nefarious enterprise.”

The release continues to round out A24’s impressive 2016 slate. The company previously announced that Sundance horror sensation “The Witch” will open nationwide February 26, and they also have titles such as “Krisha” and “De Palma” waiting in the wings.
