Meet 12 Participants in Fall Black List Screenwriting Mini-Labs

The Black List, the annual survey of Hollywood executives’ favorite unproduced screenplays and, since 2012, an online community connecting screenwriters, readers, buyers, and employers, has picked the 12 participants in its fall screenwriting mini-labs in Toronto, Chicago, and San Francisco. Chosen from ten finalists per city after submitting a script, a resume, and a personal statement, the participants will workshop a screenplay with peers and professional mentors—including Derek Haas (NBC’s “Chicago Fire”); Pixar’s Victoria Strouse (“Finding Dory”) and Matthew Aldrich; Go Into the Story’s Scott Myers; DePaul professor Brad Riddell; and Black List Founder and CEO Franklin Leonard.

Submissions for the Black List’s final mini-lab of 2015 (Los Angeles, Nov. 20-22) close Oct. 8, while submissions for the inaugural Athena Film Festival Black List Mini-Lab (New York City, Feb. 18-21, 2016), which is open to female writers with scripts focusing on women’s leadership, are due Nov. 21.
