Screen Media announced today its acquisition of the worldwide distribution rights to “Yellow,” the long-delayed film written and directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Sienna Miller.
“Yellow” is a dark and surreal comedy that follows the story of a substitute teacher who escapes reality by fantasizing about a parallel world. Melanie Griffith, Lucy Punch, Gena Rowlands, David Morse and Ray Liotta round out the impressive ensemble cast.
“This is my favorite film I have ever made,” said Cassevetes, when asked about “Yellow.”
“We are thrilled to be facilitating the release of ‘Yellow,’ as this film has so much potential for the benefit of many stakeholders,” said Jake Shapiro, Chairman of FONU2, the company behind Moon River Studios, the production company behind the film. “As one of the great artistic and commercially successful directors, Nick Cassavetes’ films have averaged over $44 million in box-office per film and grossed in excess of $542 million worldwide.”

Screen Media acquired distribution rights through Magna Entertainment and Verdi Productions.

After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival all the way back in 2012, “Yellow” finally looks ready to hit theaters in the upcoming new year.
