The 13th Annual Tallgrass Film Festival came to an end over the weekend with the Closing Night Gala screening of Ian and Eshom Nelms’ “Waffle Street.” Overall, the five-day festival screened 203 films, including 54 features and 149 short films, 15 of which walked home with award wins.
“The programming staff set up a challenge for ourselves in trying to single out a handful of winners and special citations among the host of truly outstanding films we were fortunate enough to bring to Tallgrass this year,” Director of Programming and Operations Nick Pope said. “As part of our mission to bring off-beat and exceptional fare to Wichita’s movie-loving audiences, the selections we made represented some very special work in cinema that we wanted to highlight and underline even amongst one of the strongest programs we have had to date.”
