When William’s estranged brother, Leonard (Tom Bell), turns up unannounced on the eve of their wedding, his actions threaten to reveal the truth about the scam, and about Fiona’s family. The film, directed by Jason Mann from a script co-written with Pete Jones, also features Emmy nominee Brenda Strong (“Desperate Housewives”) as Fiona’s mother and Golden Globe winner Bruce Davison (“Short Cuts”) as Fiona’s father.
“The Leisure Class” is the final product of the controversial fourth season of HBO’s “Project Greenlight.” As producer Effie Brown recently told our own Anne Thompson, she sparred with Matt Damon over diversity in the early going because “I had no choice really. I’ve been black and a woman all my life. I have
worked in this business for 20 years. I’m 43. It was one of those
things. Literally in that moment, was I going to risk public
humiliation, bringing up this opinion, or deal with shame and excuses.”
Brown’s remarkable candor, both on “Project Greenlight” and in her interview with Thompson, has made this season of “Project Greenlight” pop—and, one hopes, will have the same effect on Mann’s first feature.
“The Leisure Class” airs Monday, Nov. 2 at 10pm on HBO. “Project Greenlight” airs Sundays at 10pm through Nov. 1.
