Maybe the most salacious bit of news revealed at FX’s Television Critics Assn. (TCA) press tour 2 months ago, was that star Lady Gaga will “romance” Angela Bassett’s character in “American Horror Story: Hotel” as Gaga’s character’s alter ego is bisexual. Gaga’s character will actually romance a number of other characters on the show, including Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson, exec producer Ryan Murphy revealed, adding that the upcoming 5th season of the hit anthology series, like the first 2 seasons, “taps into the ‘trapped’ horror trope, although not all the action will be Hotel-based.”
Bassett plays Ramona Royale, a film star who used to have a romantic relationship with The Countess (Gaga), and wants revenge. Said Bassett: “They are powerful women at opposite sides and at odds with one another, each believing that they’re right […] They’re both very strong women, so I don’t know who’s going to make who, who’s bitch.”
Meanwhile, Naomi Campbell will also feature in the series next season, playing a Vogue magazine editor who decides to stay at the hotel and ends up regretting it. “She’s kind of outlandish,” said Campbell. “She thinks she’s indestructible and nothing’s going to hurt her.”
Gaga, Bassett and Campbell will be joined by Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny and Matt Bomer in the cast of “Hotel,” along with newcomer Cheyenne Jackson.
