If there’s one thing that every person on this planet has in common and can bond over, it’s film-induced childhood trauma. Whether it be that late-night television airing of “The Exorcist,” or your parents unwittingly exposing you to your deepest, darkest fears on film, everyone can remember the first movie that scared them.
In a new video from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, several filmmakers share the first movie that ever scared them. Effie Brown, Edgar Wright and Common are among the artists who share their first fears, including “Jaws,” “The Omen,” “Magic” and “Poltergeist.”
