Watch: Jeff Daniels from 'Dumb & Dumber' Sabotages Jeff Daniels from 'The Newsroom' on 'The Late Late Show'

Last year, as “The Newsroom” ended and “Dumb & Dumber To” was rolling out in theaters, many viewers noted the stark difference between Jeff Daniels’ two most popular roles. As Will McAvoy on Aaron Sorkin’s Emmy-winning HBO drama, Daniels was the pinnacle of integrity, bringing a sharp wit and passionate dedication to the truth as a classic Sorkin character who’s unafraid, nay, proud to be the smartest person in the room. Harry, meanwhile, was an idiot. A glorious idiot, yes, but an idiot nonetheless.

A year after both franchises came to an end (or so it seems), Daniels reprised both roles for the same scene on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” As McAvoy tries to interview his guest (Corden), the straightforward back-and-forth is thrown off by the world’s worst boom mic operator. From there, things only get worse for poor Will — and presumably MacKenzie in the production booth — but much better for the audience.

Daniels can currently be seen in “Steve Jobs” and “The Martian,” the former of which reunites him with his “Newsroom” scribe. Daniels tweeted the below photo in advance of Tuesday night’s show.
