With classic tunes, an all-star cast, and a bracing blend of comedy and drama, the latest look at “Joy” is very much in the vein of Lawrence’s two prior collaborations with Russell, “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle.” “Joy” follows Lawrence’s housewife as she builds an empire from what her daughter calls a “serious invention,” with fellow Russell vets Robert De Niro, as her father, and Bradley Cooper, as an executive at a home shopping channel. The cast also features Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen.
