All eyes are on Eddie Redmayne this awards season as he follows up his Oscar-winning role in “The Theory of Everything” with another highly emotional and transformative performance in Tom Hooper’s “The Danish Girl.”

This time around, Redmayne sinks into the skin of Lili Elbe, a transgender woman who was one of the first people to receive sex reassignment surgery. The film co-stars Alicia Vikander as Lili’s wife and focuses on the resiliency and challenges their relationship underwent as the two fought for Lili’s true identity. Amber Heard, Matthias Schoenaerts and Ben Whishaw co-star.

“The Danish Girl” premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and also screened at TIFF. The emotional new trailer above puts the exquisite production design and moving lead performances front and center. The drama opens in select theaters on November 27.
