Tommy Reid’s documentary “We The People: The Market Basket Effect” focuses on the relationship of the Demoulas family over control of their $4 billion supermarket chain, Market Basket.

In the summer of 2014, 25,000 non-union employees and nearly two million devoted customers organized a boycott of the Lowell, Massachusetts-based Market Basket supermarket chain in order to regain control of their company and reinstate their beloved CEO Arthur T. Demoulas. The chain of events leading up to and including the boycott held the livelihoods of 25,000 employees hanging in the balance and effectively resolved a family feud in a way that courts never could.

The film is produced by Ted Leonsis (founder of Indiewire parent company SnagFilms), Nick Buzzell and Robert “Bobby” Friedman and executive produced by Mike Buzzell (NBTV Studios) and Todd Hoffman (Bungalow Media + Entertainment). Michael Chiklis serves as narrator. Watch an exclusive clip from the film, which most recently screened at the Boston Film Festival, above.
