16 Animated Films Will Compete for the 2015 Academy Award, Including 'Inside Out' and 'Anomalisa'

The Academy has announced the 16 films that will compete for the five nominations for Best Animated Film.

As expected, Disney/Pixar’s acclaimed “Inside Out” and Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson’s “Anomalisa” have qualified for the big prize. The two join the blockbuster “Minions” and animated indies like “Kahlil Gibran‘s The Prophet” on the list of 16. With the addition of “The Good Dinosaur,” it looks like Disney/Pixar will be competing against themselves for the first time in the category they have long dominated.
