Nicolas Winding Refn’s highly anticipated “The Neon Demon” has finally found a distribution home at Amazon Studios. The company has acquired rights to the drama and plans to release it theatrically in summer 2016.

“The Neon Demon” stars Elle Fanning as an aspiring model whose youth and beauty is threatened after she moves to Los Angeles and falls into the gaze of a group of beauty-obsessed women who will go to any lengths to get what she has. Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks and Jena Malone also star.

“One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women,” Refn told Variety of the project. “Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.”

The deal was negotiated by Gaumont ‘s Cecile Gaget and Wild Bunch’s Vincent Maraval and Carole Baraton on behalf of Refn.
