It’s been four years since Amy Winehouse tragically passed away, all too young, at the age of twenty-seven, but 2015 has been something of a celebration of her life. Earlier this year, Asif Kapadia released his documentary “Amy” which spun the tale of singer’s life with carefully constructed archival footage, and now, Winehouse is getting the big screen biopic treatment.
Screen Daily reports that Noomi Rapace (“Prometheus,” “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo“) is in talks to player the artist in the untitled picture. Kirsten Sheridan (“August Rush“) has written the script and will direct the picture that will tell the tale about the singer’s life. The all important music rights are currently being negotiated, but as we’ve learned from other biopics that have spent years in development, it’s not always an easy process to sort out, especially when estate’s get involved, and are very particular about how artists are portrayed.
So while this certainly interesting and eyebrow raising, but we’ll see how quickly it winds up moving, particularly as Winehouse’s father also has his own brewing movie about his daughter. But what do you think about Rapace as Winehouse? Let us know below.
