Northern Invasion: Canadians Own 60% of Billboard's Top 10 Singles

You are likely unaware, but it’s the beginning of a new era up in Canada today as they swear in Justin Trudeau as their Prime Minister (he who most of the world has talking about largely because how good-looking he is). And Canucks have reason to celebrate south of the border too. Canadians make up a record 60% of Billboard’s top 10, occupying the #2-#6 slots as well as #10 thanks to Justin Bieber, Drake, The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes, respectively.

This comes a week after they had the top 4 slots, but Adele’s assumed position on top knocked Bieber from his perch. Though there’s a Canadian connection with her too: Xavier Dolan directed the music video for Adele’s #1 song.

Notably, this achievement comes without the extraordinary likes of Carly Rae Jepsen, Grimes or Peaches — who are collectively a huge part of why 2015 has been an amazing year for music. Either way, congratulations to Canada.
