Rumor: Ben Mendelsohn Eyed For ‘Justice League Dark,’ And ‘Justice League’ Will Add New Female Hero

Rumor: Ben Mendelsohn Eyed For 'Justice League Dark,' And 'Justice League' Will Add New Female Hero

It’s time to start getting your “Justice League” movies in order. “Justice League,” which will be delivered in two parts, is the massive project being directed by Zack Snyder, which will feature pretty much everyone you’ll see in “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” next spring, plus even more characters. “Justice League Dark” stands sort of independently of that (though there are already rumors that it will connect to “Suicide Squad,” which connects to ‘Batman v Superman’) and will feature a different and more oddball array of characters. But both pictures are gearing up to shoot next year, and as such, rumors are swirling.

Heroic Hollywood has the latest intel, so let’s dive in. Firstly, they reveal that Ben Mendelsohn is being eyed to play the baddie Anton Arcane in “Justice League Dark,” though he wants to know who will be directing before making a decision. So add this name to the list that currently includes Colin Farrell for John Constantine, Ewan McGregor for Jason Blood, Monica Bellucci for Madame Xanadu, and Ron Perlman as Swamp Thing. As always, things can change and shake out differently.

The site also says that “Justice League” will add Mera, the Queen of Atlantis, to its ranks. She is essentially Aquaman’s true love, and I’d presume her appearance in Snyder’s film will pave the way for a more substantial role in the standalone “Aquaman” movie.

“Justice League — Part 1” arrives on November 17, 2017, while “Justice League Dark” has no release date just yet.
