Trailer Watch: A Gymnastics Diva Returns Home, Refuses to Mellow Out in 'The Bronze'

Cocky male athletes are everywhere. Cocky female athletes, much less so, especially in the movies.

Comedian Melissa Rauch (“The Big Bang Theory”) finally gives us an anti-heroine with Olympian levels of skill and ego in “The Bronze,” which she co-wrote and stars in. Rauch’s expletive-prone Hope Ann Greggory returns to her small Ohio town after placing disappointingly on the world stage. Now her main challenge is clinging to relevance and self-respect.

Between the giant blond bangs, the floppy scrunchies, and the stars-and-stripes tracksuits, Hope’s costuming is perfect. But what clinches her athlete look is her hilarious sense of entitlement, which she’s more than happy to demonstrate in the trailer

Co-starring Cecily Strong (“Saturday Night Live”) and Haley Lu Richardson (“Ravenswood”), “The Bronze” opens March 11, 2016.
