This weekend, Jennifer Lawrence will rule the box office in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2,” marking an end to the franchise that brought her worldwide fame. And next month, she’ll be making headlines again as an Oscar contender in David O. Russell‘s “Joy,” another blend of comedy and drama from the filmmaker, with a plum role for Lawrence at the center.
With an all-star ensemble cast which includes Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Elisabeth Rohm, Virginia Madsen, and more, the film is inspired by the Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop. And it looks like it has spurred Russell to tell a hard-scrabble rags-to-riches story.
“Joy” opens on Christmas Day.
